Metro Futures

About

As of 2024, almost 2 billion people live in metropolises - cities with at least a million inhabitants - and there are +40 megacities in the world, each with more than 10 million inhabitants.

These large cities are potentially more vulnerable to risks such as extreme weather, water shortages or lack of affordable housing. They also present particular challenges for effective governance.

Metropolitan areas urgently need reliable, accessible data to ensure they are future-proof. Data is essential for subnational governments to monitor their performance, design new policies and compare their progress with other global cities.

Metro Futures allows you to benchmark your city’s performance, draw actionable insights and make informed decisions. Understanding and analyzing data on urban performance empowers policy-makers to keep pace with the changing landscape of cities worldwide.
